STATION was formed in late 1997 in Budapest. It was the lead singer, Laci who heard his brother playing some U2 stuff in the basement, and a moment later decided to make a U2 tribute band with musician friends. At the beginning STATION only played U2 songs, but the members were too creative not to start to work on original songs. At that time the band played in samll clubs around in Budapest. It seemed that the audience is not against the STATION songs, they loved the band so STATION didn't stopped writing the own tracks, and playing them on U2 nights along with the U2 songs. In the early years STATION had 5 members, then another period has come, with only 3 musicians. The whole thing sounded like a synth-pop band, but at least they did not split up! It was a really hard time for the band. They got record contract with a Hungarian record company, but after the whole leadership was fired, the contract was gone too. Getting into the show business is harder then the band thought. Fortunately the desperation of Laci and Gaben was bigger than their misfortune. Late STATION fan, LeMon joined the band as a bassist in 2000. The band members were good friends, so they kept workin on the resurrection of STATION. There were a few shots to get someone behind the drumkits, and STATION ate hundreds of drummers in the next 2 years. During these years the band won several festivals, made the U2 fanclub, LeMon also sang a duett with Bono on stage in Berlin, but STATION is still in the middle of nowhere. In 2003 LeMon's old friend, Viktor finally joined the band. STATION reborned, and to avoid touching the bottom again, they had to get new ideas. The official website launched, the band gone to studio to rerecord a few old and new songs, and tried to make the live sounding as better as they can with backing samples. Then in 2004 the whole group travelled to Dublin to catch their idols, U2. And for fun, of course! The trip was succesful, and after coming back to Hungary, STATION was in the highlight for a while. They also finished their first video, featuring Zita Görög (the Low Low girl for the Irish) and Bono. Gaben left the band in 2005 and a new guitarplayer came to Station. Zoltán Závoti stayed for one year, he reinvented the STATION songs, and then Dávis Simon was who made the sounding perfect, and still amaze the fans on the gigs! The future is still unknown, but it's time to get into the rollercoaster finally! Slide forward to get more information about the band members >>
